BUNIFU TECHNOLOGIES LIMITED, operating on Google Play under the developer name Bunifu Technologies (“Bunifu Technologies,” “we,” “us,” or “our”), respects the privacy of users of the Bunifu Go platform.

This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, access, use, store, disclose, and protect information when users access or use Bunifu Go services, including our:

  • Web applications;
  • Agent mobile applications;
  • Parent and Guardian mobile applications; and
  • Other applications, websites, or services that link to this Privacy Policy.

Bunifu Go provides technology for school transport management, student attendance, gate operations, school bus tracking, parent and guardian notifications, reporting, student safety, and related school operations.

Bunifu Go applications may be branded for individual schools, institutions, organizations, or customers while operating on the Bunifu Go platform.

Any website, web application, or mobile application operated by BUNIFU TECHNOLOGIES LIMITED that links to this Privacy Policy is covered by this Privacy Policy unless a separate privacy policy is provided for that service.

3. Bunifu Go Services

3.1 Web Admin Application

The Bunifu Go Web Admin application is used by authorized schools, institutions, administrators, and staff to manage services provided through the Bunifu Go platform.

Depending on the services enabled for an organization, the Web Admin application may be used to:

  • Manage students and student profiles;
  • Manage attendance records;
  • Manage school transport operations;
  • Manage routes, vehicles, schedules, and trips;
  • Assign or subscribe students to transport schedules;
  • Manage users and authorized personnel;
  • Review student transport activity;
  • View trip information;
  • Generate operational reports; and
  • Manage related school transport and attendance services.

Access to the Web Admin application is restricted to authorized users.

3.2 Agent Mobile Applications

Agent applications are intended for authorized school transport, gate, attendance, and operational personnel.

Depending on a user’s assigned role, Agent applications may allow users to:

  • View transport schedules;
  • Start and complete transport trips;
  • View students assigned to a trip;
  • Record students as boarded or alighted;
  • Record gate attendance;
  • View student transport availability;
  • Identify students using QR codes, NFC cards, or supported UHF RFID tags;
  • View relevant parent or guardian contact information;
  • Track the location of an active school bus;
  • Detect arrival at configured stations or bus stops; and
  • Receive operational notifications.

During an active trip, the Agent application may use precise location information to provide continuous school bus tracking. Pasted text

3.3 Parent and Guardian Mobile Applications

Parent and Guardian applications are intended for authorized parents and guardians.

Depending on the services enabled by the relevant school or institution, these applications may allow users to:

  • View children linked to their account;
  • View school transport trips;
  • View transport routes and schedules;
  • View pickup and drop-off information;
  • View bus or trip status;
  • Receive notifications about student transport events;
  • View available school bus tracking information;
  • Mark a child as unavailable for transport on selected dates;
  • Manage additional guardian phone numbers;
  • Configure SMS and in-app notification preferences; and
  • Receive information about delays, changes, or other transport events.

4. Information We Collect and Process

The information processed through Bunifu Go depends on the application being used, the user’s role, the school or organization using the platform, and the features enabled.

4.1 Account and Authentication Information

We may process information required to identify and authenticate users, including:

  • Name;
  • Mobile phone number;
  • Email address;
  • User or account identifier;
  • User role;
  • School or organization association;
  • Authentication credentials;
  • One-time verification codes;
  • Authentication or session tokens; and
  • Account recovery information.

Where supported, users may use device or operating-system features to assist with entering one-time verification codes.

5. Student Information

Because Bunifu Go supports school transport and attendance services, the platform may process information relating to students, including minors.

Depending on the services provided by the school, this information may include:

  • Student name;
  • Student or admission number;
  • School;
  • Class or stream;
  • Assigned transport schedule;
  • Transport route;
  • Station or bus stop;
  • Transport availability;
  • Boarding status;
  • Alighting or drop-off status;
  • Gate attendance status;
  • Trip information;
  • Pickup and drop-off information;
  • Dates and times associated with transport or attendance activities; and
  • Information linking the student to authorized parents or guardians.

Student information is processed for school transport, attendance, safety, communication, and related operational purposes.

6. Parent and Guardian Information

We may process information relating to parents and guardians, including:

  • Name;
  • Mobile phone number;
  • Email address, where applicable;
  • Children linked to the account;
  • Additional authorized guardian phone numbers;
  • Notification preferences;
  • Child transport availability instructions; and
  • Transport-related communications.

Authorized parents or guardians may be able to add other guardian phone numbers for the purpose of receiving relevant transport notifications.

7. Transport and Attendance Information

Bunifu Go may process information relating to school transport and attendance, including:

  • Scheduled trips;
  • Active trips;
  • Completed trips;
  • Routes;
  • Stations or bus stops;
  • Student boarding events;
  • Student alighting events;
  • Gate attendance records;
  • Pickup and drop-off activity;
  • Student transport availability;
  • Trip start and completion information; and
  • Dates and times associated with transport activities.

This information may be made available to authorized users of the relevant school or organization.

8. Precise Location and Background Location

Certain Bunifu Go Agent applications use precise device location as part of their school transport functionality.

When an authorized transport user operates an active trip, the application may process information such as:

  • GPS coordinates;
  • Date and time of the location;
  • Location accuracy;
  • Speed;
  • Trip identifier;
  • Bus movement information; and
  • Station or bus-stop arrival information.

Background Location

During an active school transport trip, an Agent application may continue collecting and transmitting precise location information when:

  • The application is minimized;
  • The user switches to another application;
  • The device screen is turned off; or
  • The application is otherwise operating in the background.

This allows live school bus tracking to continue without requiring the Agent application to remain visible on the device screen.

Background location may be used to:

  • Provide live school bus tracking;
  • Allow authorized school personnel to view the location of an active bus;
  • Allow authorized parents or guardians to view relevant bus-location information where that service is enabled;
  • Detect arrival at configured stations or bus stops;
  • Support student pickup and drop-off operations;
  • Record trip progress;
  • Support transport safety and accountability; and
  • Record relevant trip completion information.

While active trip tracking is running, the application may use an Android foreground service and display an ongoing notification informing the user that trip location tracking is active.

The Agent application is designed to continue tracking during an active trip even when the screen is off or another application is being used. Pasted text

9. Temporary Location Storage and Connectivity

During an active trip, an Agent application may temporarily hold location points on the device while preparing them for transmission to the Bunifu Go platform.

If internet connectivity is temporarily unavailable, location information may remain temporarily in memory and may be transmitted when connectivity becomes available again.

The temporary in-memory location queue may be cleared when:

  • Tracking is stopped;
  • The active trip changes;
  • The user logs out; or
  • The application process terminates.

10. Geofencing and Station Detection

Bunifu Go Agent applications may use location information to determine when an active school bus enters a configured station or bus-stop area.

This functionality allows the platform to recognize that a bus has reached a station without requiring the transport agent to manually record every arrival.

Station or zone information may also be used to generate relevant transport updates and notifications.

11. QR Codes, NFC and RFID

Certain Bunifu Go applications may use student identification technologies such as QR codes, NFC cards, and supported UHF RFID tags.

QR Codes

An Agent application may use the device camera to scan a student QR code.

The identifier obtained from the QR code may be used to identify the relevant student and perform an authorized transport or attendance action.

NFC

An Agent application may read supported NFC student identification cards.

The identifier obtained from the card may be used to identify a student and record an authorized event such as boarding, alighting, or gate attendance.

UHF RFID

On supported dedicated handheld devices, an Agent application may read student UHF RFID identification tags.

The identifier obtained from a tag may be matched with the relevant student or admission number for transport or attendance purposes.

RFID functionality may be used to identify an individual student or multiple students during an authorized transport or attendance operation.

12. Camera Access

Certain Agent applications may request access to the device camera for student QR-code scanning.

Camera access is used for the applicable student identification and transport or attendance functionality.

13. Child Transport Availability

Parent and Guardian applications may allow an authorized parent or guardian to indicate that a child will not use school transport on selected dates.

This information may be made available to authorized school or transport personnel so that they know whether a student is expected to use transport.

14. Notifications

Bunifu Go may provide notifications through:

  • SMS;
  • In-app notifications; and
  • Push notifications.

Notifications may relate to events such as:

  • A student boarding a bus;
  • A student alighting from a bus;
  • A student entering a configured transport zone;
  • A student being removed from a trip;
  • Pickup or drop-off activity;
  • Trip changes;
  • Schedule changes;
  • Transport delays; and
  • Other relevant transport or attendance events.

Parent and Guardian applications may allow users to control some notification preferences.

15. Push Notifications

Bunifu Go mobile applications may use Firebase Cloud Messaging or similar notification services to provide push notifications.

Information required to deliver notifications may include:

  • Application installation identifiers;
  • Device notification registration tokens; and
  • Information required to direct a notification to the appropriate application installation.

Push notifications may be used for transport, attendance, operational, and service-related communications.

16. Crash Reporting and Application Configuration

Bunifu Go applications may use Firebase Crashlytics or similar diagnostic services to identify crashes, technical problems, and application errors.

Diagnostic information may include:

  • Application version;
  • Device model;
  • Operating-system version;
  • Crash time;
  • Crash stack traces;
  • Application installation identifiers; and
  • Technical information relating to the error.

This information is used to diagnose faults, improve application stability, and maintain the service.

Bunifu Go applications may also use Firebase Remote Config or similar technology to configure certain application functionality remotely.

17. Web Application and Technical Information

When users access the Bunifu Go Web Admin application or related web services, technical information may be processed as necessary to provide, protect, and maintain the service.

This may include:

  • IP address;
  • Browser information;
  • Device or operating-system information;
  • Login and session information;
  • Application activity;
  • Security information; and
  • Error and diagnostic information.

The Web Admin application may use browser storage, cookies, or similar technologies where necessary for authentication, security, user sessions, preferences, and operation of the service.

18. Support and Communications

If a user contacts Bunifu Technologies for support, feedback, privacy assistance, or another enquiry, we may process information such as:

  • Name;
  • Email address;
  • Phone number;
  • School or organization;
  • Application being used;
  • Details of the enquiry or problem; and
  • Technical information provided by the user.

This information is used to respond to enquiries, provide support, and resolve technical or service-related issues.

19. How We Use Information

Information processed through Bunifu Go may be used to:

  • Authenticate users;
  • Manage accounts and access permissions;
  • Manage students and student information;
  • Provide school transport services;
  • Manage schedules, routes, and trips;
  • Provide live bus tracking;
  • Record student boarding and alighting;
  • Record school gate attendance;
  • Detect bus-stop or station arrivals;
  • Identify students using supported scanning technologies;
  • Manage student transport availability;
  • Provide transport information to authorized parents and guardians;
  • Deliver transport and attendance notifications;
  • Generate authorized reports;
  • Provide customer and technical support;
  • Maintain and improve application functionality;
  • Detect and resolve technical problems;
  • Protect the security and integrity of the platform;
  • Prevent unauthorized access or misuse; and
  • Meet applicable contractual, billing, operational, safety, legal, or regulatory requirements.

20. How Information May Be Shared

We may share or make information available where reasonably necessary to provide, operate, support, secure, or maintain Bunifu Go.

Schools and Institutions

Information may be available to the school, institution, organization, or customer using the Bunifu Go platform.

Authorized personnel may access information required for their roles, including information relating to:

  • Students;
  • Attendance;
  • Transportation;
  • Trips;
  • Pickup and drop-off;
  • Gate operations;
  • Reports; and
  • Student safety.

Parents and Guardians

Authorized parents and guardians may receive information relating to children linked to their accounts.

Depending on the services enabled, this may include:

  • Transport schedules;
  • Boarding information;
  • Alighting information;
  • Pickup or drop-off information;
  • Notifications;
  • Transport availability; and
  • Bus tracking information.

Service Providers

We may use third-party service providers necessary to operate or support Bunifu Go.

  • Cloud infrastructure and hosting;
  • Push notifications;
  • SMS or OTP delivery;
  • Crash reporting;
  • Application configuration;
  • Email or communications;
  • Security services; and
  • Technical infrastructure.

These providers may process information only to the extent required to provide the relevant service.

Legal and Safety Requirements

Agent applications are intended for authorized school, transport, gate, and operational personnel.

Parent and Guardian applications are intended for authorized parents and guardians.

Student information may be processed for purposes such as:

  • School transport;
  • Attendance;
  • Bus scheduling;
  • Pickup and drop-off;
  • Student availability;
  • Gate attendance;
  • Student identification;
  • Parent and guardian notifications;
  • Transport safety; and
  • School operational requirements.

Schools and institutions using Bunifu Go are responsible for ensuring that their use of student information complies with their applicable legal, regulatory, contractual, and organizational obligations.

22. Data Security

We use reasonable administrative, organizational, and technical measures intended to protect information against unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, loss, misuse, or destruction.

Depending on the service, these measures may include:

  • User authentication;
  • User roles and permissions;
  • Restricted access to operational information;
  • Authentication and session controls;
  • Security monitoring; and
  • Technical error monitoring.

Agent users must authenticate before accessing protected functions, and authenticated sessions are used for protected server requests. Pasted text

No electronic transmission or storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

23. Data Retention

We retain information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes for which it was collected or processed.

Retention periods may depend on:

We may take reasonable steps to verify the identity or authority of the person submitting the request.

Some accounts, student information, attendance records, and transport information may be administered by a school or institution. In such cases, a request may need to be handled by or coordinated with that organization.

Information may be retained where reasonably necessary to meet applicable legal, regulatory, contractual, security, safety, fraud-prevention, or dispute-resolution requirements.

25. Application Permissions

Depending on the application, device, operating-system version, user role, and enabled features, Bunifu Go applications may request access to certain device capabilities.

Location

Used by applicable Agent applications for active-trip bus tracking, station detection, trip operations, and transport safety.

Location may continue to be accessed while an active trip is running in the background.

Camera

Used by applicable Agent applications to scan supported student QR codes.

NFC

Used to read supported NFC student identification cards.

Notifications

Used to provide operational, transport, attendance, and service notifications.

Notifications may also be used to indicate when active trip location tracking is running.

RFID Hardware

On supported dedicated devices, Agent applications may communicate with compatible UHF RFID hardware to read student identification tags.

Permissions are requested according to the functionality available to the user and the capabilities required by the application.

26. Background Location Disclosure

Where a Bunifu Go Agent application requires background location, the application may collect and transmit precise location information during an active school transport trip.

This enables:

  • Live school bus tracking;
  • Station and bus-stop arrival detection;
  • Trip management;
  • Pickup and drop-off operations; and
  • Related transport safety functionality.

Location tracking may continue when the application is running in the background, when another application is being used, or when the device screen is turned off.

Users must grant the applicable device permissions before background location functionality can operate.

27. Third-Party Services

Bunifu Go applications and services may use third-party technology necessary to provide certain functions.

These services may include:

  • Firebase Cloud Messaging;
  • Firebase Crashlytics;
  • Firebase Remote Config;
  • Google Play services;
  • Cloud hosting services;
  • SMS and OTP delivery services;
  • Email services;
  • Security services; and
  • Other technical infrastructure providers.

Third-party service providers may process information only as necessary to provide their respective services and in accordance with their applicable obligations and agreements.

28. International Processing

Some service providers supporting Bunifu Go may operate infrastructure in countries other than the country in which a user, school, or institution is located.

Where information is processed across borders, we take reasonable steps to ensure that appropriate protections apply in accordance with applicable requirements.

29. Privacy Rights

Depending on applicable law and the circumstances in which information is processed, users may have rights relating to their personal information, including the right to request:
